NYFW SS2018 IN REVIEW: NANCY TRAN’S ELEGANT METAMORPHOSIS

NEW YORK STYLE GUIDE

Those who know New York Fashion Week are familiar with Bryant Park as the first official home (and for 16 years thereafter) of the glamorous seven-day hub to the world’s leading designers ready to showcase their latest collections. Today, the shows take place at other venues in the city, though Bryant Park still holds an air reverence as the birthplace to this phenomenon. Naturally, when New York Style Guide received an invitation to the Bryant Park Hotel to view a new collection by Nancy Tran, a sense of nostalgia and creative resurgence fluttered with anticipation of a fresh designer’s vision to be seen this season — and that’s exactly what this collection is. Named “Transformation”, Nancy Tran’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection draws inspiration by the season’s themes of rebirth and radiance. The collection exudes the ephemeral beauty of metamorphosis, the liberating confidence after emerging from restrictions and taking flight is artfully depicted by scintillating butterflies and unfurling bouquets. The line consists of day and cocktail dresses, evening gowns, and separates rendered close to the body silhouettes with fitted waists and skirts tapered like tulips or voluminous roses in full bloom.
